Clip from Heroes

Monday night March 5th, an all new episode of “Heroes” on NBC television will feature Heavenly Sword footage never before seen by the gaming public. The footage features a rope slide and huge jump by the protagonist, followed by a breif glimpse of some melee action.

Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection is now available for purchase from the Playstation 3’s Online Store.

Downloading it will cost you $19.99 and is about 555 MB. The game plays at 1080p and is optimized for HD gaming. The Playstation Store in Japan has had this game for well over a month now. Since there appear to be zero changes made to the game, it’s unclear why Namco Bandai delayed it so long.

There are many questions circulating about Sony’s future plans. As some of you may know, Phil Harrison decided to allow a reporter from Time Magazine to interview him at this year’s D.I.C.E. convention in Las Vegas. Several sites had live-blogging events from that interview. However, video of it is now available so you can get everything straight from the horse’s mouth, so to speak. During a Q&A session with Phil Harrison at the D.I.C.E. show this year, Sony announced a new downloadable game coming soon for their Playstation Store. It’s called “Super Rub-a-Dub” and features the ducks that were in the early PS3 tech demos. However, I can’t help thinking that there’s something missing in this version. The Playstation 3 is getting a whole lot of fighting goodness delivered on February 20, 2007. SEGA just announced that “Virtua Fighter 5 for the Sony PS3 has officially gone gold.” The new VF5 website has launched over in Europe as well. It features some killer videos and screenshots as well as wallpapers. If you can wait an extra week or so to have the game delivered, GameStop is also offering $5 off the regular $59.99 price along with free value shipping using the code “Saver”.

Launch titles for any new console often suffer from a basic lack of knowledge and development tools in the hands of game designers. Fortunately, middleware companies like Havok provide software that helps bridge these gaps and allows for better games in less time. So it’s incredibly exciting to know that the release of Havok 4.5 brings a significant improvement to the table: SPU optimization.

Gripshift is one of the latest additions to the Playstation Store and a terrific PSP game before that. What makes it so great, you ask? Simple! It allows players to think outside the box when developing strategies for successful completion of a level. I’ve assemble a handful of videos that show off some amazing driving in Gripshift. There’s a lot of anticipation about key upcoming US releases on the PS3, including Virtua Fighter 5 and Motorstorm. Both titles of course get released in Japan before coming out here. While I’m among the ranks of those itching to get their hot little hands on these titles, there’s another game I’ve got my eye on. It’s already out in Japan and the recent videos of online multiplayer action have whet my appitite for giant robot battles even more.
